This can only end well

Read the forest. Question your life choices.

Every forest hides a different ecology. Moisture, trees, light and undergrowth point toward porcini—or toward a long walk with nothing to show but emotional damage.

01

Look down

Porcini hide beneath fallen leaves, near oak, beech and chestnut trees. Watch your step—the forest may find you before the mushrooms do.

02

Trust nothing

Moss, ferns and host trees are useful clues. The Fish Man is not.

03

Fill the basket

Find a cluster, get greedy, become over-encumbered and learn why running mattered.

Meet the locals. Regret it immediately.

The wildlife is odd. The people are worse.

The woods are populated by people with no obvious reason to be there. To be fair, neither do you.

  • Fresh disasters Every seed creates new clues and brand-new ways to be humiliated by shrubbery.
  • Hard mode Lookalikes enter the basket. Regret follows shortly after.
  • Permanent evidence Your log keeps notes, records and a useful paper trail for the rescue team.

* “Normal” is a legally flexible term.

The final unlock

Meet the person responsible.

Complete enough hunts to unlock the game's creator: underqualified, overconfident, and entirely responsible for what happened in the woods.
